You Wanna go with?
THEY MUST HAVE CHANGED THE RULES for good English since I went to school. I still have a good command of the language, but I don’t remember all the rules for some of the finer points like “dangling participles” or what-have-you. I do recall that my favorite English teacher told us to never ever end a sentence with “with”. I don’t know when it started but now I hear it everywhere, “you wanna go with”? With WHAT? With me, with the circus, with that stupid hat on? With what?? And that’s only the tip of the iceberg when you consider what is becoming of our language.
“nomsayin? I hear this all the time, especially from football players when being interviewed on TV. “It was a great game, nomsayin?”
Or how about “dudnit”? That road goes all the way to the Interstate, dudnit?”
I don’t have a lot to say today, it’s still rainy and cold. So I’ll leave you with a few words of wisdom (that have been passed on to me thru the internet)
“Everyone has a photographic memory - some just don’t have film.”
‘What happens if you are scared half to death twice?”
“I tried sniffing Coke once, but the ice cubes got stuck in my nose.”
And last, but not least, “Todays mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut that held its ground.”
